Call for Papers: Special Issue on “Kant and Politics”
Deadline for submission: January 30, 2026
Guest Editor: Selda Salman
The first quarter of the twenty-first century has already made clear—through wars, authoritarianism, crises, and alienation—how far we remain from realizing Kant’s vision of the future. Yet this distance does not erase Kant’s conviction that humanity is moving toward a better world. In a time of renewed crisis, recalling and re-examining Kant and his ethico-political philosophy emerges as a responsibility. If philosophy has a task in the twenty-first century, it may well be to prevent the forgetting of fundamental principles and values.
With this in mind, the Journal of Kant Çalışmaları is preparing a special issue on “Kant and Politics.” We aim to reopen discussion on the possibility of peace, the meaning of human dignity, the significance of equality, the value of freedom, morality, justice, and the necessity of grounding society in ethical principles. We also seek to reflect on how to sustain hope in the face of today’s seemingly hopeless global political landscape. In this context, the issue “Kant and Politics” invites contributions that not only examine the foundations of Kant’s political philosophy but also engage with Kant’s ethico-political thought from today’s perspective and in light of the future.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
· The possibility of peace
